Overview

The Earthshot Prize is a prestigious global award that aims to incentivize and recognize innovative solutions to the world's most pressing environmental challenges. Launched in 2020 by Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, the prize is inspired by President John F. Kennedy's Moonshot challenge in the 1960s. With a focus on five key areas - Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Fix Our Climate - the Earthshot Prize seeks to identify and support projects that have the potential to make a significant impact on the health of our planet. The prize is awarded annually, with five winners each receiving £1 million to develop and scale their projects. As of 2022, the Earthshot Prize has already recognized and supported over 15 innovative projects from around the world, including a coral reef restoration project in Australia and a sustainable fishing initiative in Japan. With its unique approach to environmental conservation and its commitment to supporting innovative solutions, the Earthshot Prize has the potential to make a significant impact on the health of our planet and inspire a new generation of environmental leaders. The Earthshot Prize has a vibe score of 8 out of 10, indicating a high level of cultural energy and relevance, and has been endorsed by a number of high-profile figures, including Sir David Attenborough and Christiana Figueres.
