With over 200 members, including countries such as Sweden, Norway, and Canada, as well as companies like Microsoft and Shell, the CPLC aims to provide a platform for leaders to discuss and implement effective carbon pricing policies. According to a report by the World Bank, carbon pricing can help reduce emissions by up to 50% by 2030, and the CPLC has set a goal of achieving a global carbon price of at least $50 per ton by 2025. However, the coalition faces challenges, including resistance from some industries and countries, and the need to address issues of equity and fairness in the implementation of carbon pricing policies. As the world moves towards a low-carbon economy, the CPLC plays a crucial role in promoting carbon pricing as a key tool for reducing emissions and achieving a sustainable future. The CPLC's efforts have been recognized by the United Nations, and its members have committed to reducing their emissions by over 1 billion tons by 2025, equivalent to taking 200 million cars off the road.
