Workplace hazards refer to the various risks and dangers that employees face in their work environment, including chemical, biological, psychosocial, and physical hazards. According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), approximately 5,333 workers died on the job in 2020, with an estimated 3.9 million workers experiencing non-fatal injuries or illnesses. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) plays a crucial role in establishing standards to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, while EU-OSHA serves a similar purpose in the European Union. With the rise of [[gig-economy|gig economy]] and [[remote-work|remote work]], new challenges have emerged in ensuring workplace safety and health. As of 2022, the World Health Organization (WHO) has emphasized the importance of addressing [[occupational-stress|occupational stress]] and [[mental-health|mental health]] in the workplace.
