Overview
Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) predominantly affects women between the ages of 20 and 55, and is also the most common type of thyroid cancer in children and individuals who have undergone radiation therapy to the head and neck. PTC is characterized by its small, mushroom-shaped tumors with a stem attached to the epithelial layer. The World Health Organization provides guidance on the diagnosis and treatment of PTC, including recommendations for screening and follow-up care.
