Overview

The development and deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) have sparked intense regulatory debates worldwide. As of 2022, over 60 countries have established or are developing AI-specific regulations, with the European Union's AI Act and the US's AI Bill of Rights being notable examples. However, the lack of a unified global framework poses significant challenges for multinational corporations and raises concerns about data privacy, algorithmic bias, and accountability. The OECD's AI Principles, adopted by 42 countries, aim to promote transparency, explainability, and human oversight, but their implementation remains inconsistent. With the global AI market projected to reach $190 billion by 2025, the need for cohesive and effective regulatory frameworks has never been more pressing. As the regulatory landscape continues to shift, one thing is clear: the future of AI governance will be shaped by the interplay between technological advancements, societal values, and geopolitical interests.
